Membership in the Egyptian Theatre Foundation PDF Print E-mail
Remember … the smell of the popcorn?…the plush multi-design carpeting?... and the beautiful Egyptian icons carved into the walls of the lobby?  As we settled into our favorite seats in the “Egyptian Courtyard” we knew that we had entered a special, magical place when the lights went down and the stars began to twinkle in the ceiling.

By becoming a member of the Egyptian Theatre Foundation, you will join an exclusive and well established group, devoted to the preservation and support of that special magical place; Peery’s Egyptian Theater, the historic jewel of downtown Ogden. Your tax deductible donation will be supporting the mission of the foundation and helping to continue the programs and performances we offer to the community.

BECOME A MEMBERWe are a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 charitable organization with no employees. You will be able to claim your charitable donation for income tax purposes, and the difference between your contribution and the value of any goods received, as a charitable deduction for income tax purposes.

Your membership dollars will go to help the foundation continue programs such as “The Len Allen Children’s Movie Series” which invites all children of Weber County, but especially targets the inner city children to come to the theater and spend a Saturday afternoon enjoying movies the way they used to be. The kids are treated to a classic cartoon, a silent short comedy with Mighty Wurlitzer Organ accompaniment and a chance to win a prize including a bicycle. The children get in free with the top of any milk carton (like in the 50’s) and entire families can come enjoy this wholesome entertainment. This opportunity to create lasting memories happens once a month during the school year and has been funded by grants that are starting to diminish.

Wurlitzer Wednesdays is our program targeted for seniors in the community. Once a month we treat the seniors to an hour of show tunes and old favorites on the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ. This is a $1 concert for Seniors 65+ and we have patrons attending from as far away as Provo and Salt Lake City! They truly enjoy the opportunity to journey back in time to a day they remember when movie palaces were flourishing around the country and the theatre organs were all the rage.

In the spirit of yesteryear, we also present the Van Summerill Silent and Classic Cinema series. We usually show several silent and classic movies throughout the year and show off the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ during these performances as people enter the theater and as the accompaniment for the silents.

All the programs we offer the community are paid for with grants and donations. We also have costs associated with the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ that must be paid for through our fundraising efforts. We hope you will join us in our mission by becoming a member of the Egyptian Theatre Foundation!
